To introduce and connect generations of future American leaders to the island of Ireland, while recognizing and fostering intellectual achievement, leadership, and a commitment to public service and community. Qualifications: Applicants must be a U.S. citizen; are between 18 and 30 years old on 1 October in the year in which applicants are applying; and have a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university before beginning study as a Mitchell Scholar. Selection criteria: Applicants will be judged based on scholarship; leadership and a sustained commitment to community and public service; Financial need is not a factor in the selection process. How to apply: Applicants must submit online application form; passport-style photo; all transcripts scanned into a single PDF; should include all undergraduate and graduate work have completed; unofficial transcripts are sufficient for the initial application; personal statement (1,000 words maximum); a scan of signature; proof of US citizenship; official copies of all transcripts in a sealed envelope or through a secure electronic system directly from the applicant's registrar.
