To provide financial assistance to local graduating high school seniors with a connection to SCLEOA. Qualifications: Applicant must be a child of an SCLEOA member; must be a graduating high school senior in South Carolina; the parent(s) or legal guardian(s) of the applicant must have been a legal resident of South Carolina for at least one year; must have the recommendation of his/her principal, headmaster or guidance counselor; must be of good moral character and reputation; recipient must attend college, university, or technical school in South Carolina. Selection criteria: Selection is made without discrimination as to race, color, religion, gender or national origin. How to apply: Applicant must submit online application form; prepare an essay of a minimum of 1,000 words, double spaced; applicant may reference surveys, current events, magazine and/or newspaper articles, personal interviews, as well as expressing personal opinions; include a bibliography of any cited sources; furnish the completed application to applicant's principal, headmaster or guidance counselor of applicant's school for his/her recommendation; include a copy of applicant's high school transcript with the application; student must interview at least 3 law enforcement practitioners on the topic and include these interviews in their research. All essays become the property of the South Carolina Law Enforcement Officer's Foundation. Focus: General studies/Field of study not specified.
