To enable high school graduates to pursue courses of study that they would otherwise be unable to follow due to limited financial means. Qualifications: Applicants must be demonstrated community involvement over a period of several years; minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale; demonstrated financial hardship; graduating high school senior or graduate of a high school in San Mateo County or Santa Clara County; planning to enroll or enrolled in a four-year college or university as a full-time student. Selection criteria: Selection will be evaluated based on demonstrated academic promise, documented perseverance in activities outside the classroom, quality of the personal statement and personal characteristics such as honesty, good judgment and commitment to serving the community.
