To support Hawaiian students pursuing postsecondary studies in education or Hawaiian language. Qualifications: Applicants must be a Hawaii resident; must be attending a post-high institution in the state of Hawaii; must be a undergraduate or graduate student; must pursuing a career in education or Hawaiian language; half-time enrollment allowed. Selection criteria: Preference given to applicants with prior teaching experience in Hawaiian language schools/program. How to apply: Applicant must submit online application form along with submit two letters of recommendation from teachers, counselors, employers, coaches or others citing examples of how have already worked in and will continue to work with the Hawaiian speaking community; submit essay on applicant's commitment to Hawaiian language education and how would use scholarship funds for educational costs. Focus: Area and ethnic studies; Education; Foreign languages.
