To honor and recognize a player who has shown high athletic and scholastic achievement. Qualifications: Applicants must be eligible for NAIA national award nominations, institutions must be an active member of the NAIA as of July 15; nominations from institutions that have closed or merged with another NAIA institution remain eligible; must be certified by the registrar as having an overall GPA of at least 3.50 (on a 4.00 scale) and must have attained junior standing academically. Selection criteria: Selection shall be based on athletic and academic achievement. How to apply: Applicants must submit an official nomination form; current high-resolution photo; an official transcript, signed by the registrar, must accompany the nomination along with a statement of the total hours required for graduation; a minimum of five letters attesting to the character, citizenship, and leadership qualities of the nominee are to accompany the nomination; letters may be submitted from any of the following: president of the institution; athletic director of the institution; academic dean or advisor of the student; athlete’s minister; business or professional person acquainted with the athlete; faculty athletics representative of the institution; faculty members; a letter from the athlete’s coach attesting to the athlete’s playing ability and value to the team.
