To support students pursuing social work degrees. Qualifications: Applicants must be a financial member of NABSW during the year of application to be eligible; must be a social work major at an accredited school; must demonstrate community service; must express social work interest in the Black community; must enrolled for a minimum of 6 hours (undergraduate, masters, or doctorate in social work) at an accredited college or university in the semester that the award will be granted; must have a cumulative GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale; must be active with their local chapter or national organization; applicant must be newly enrolled for the academy for African-Centered social work; must willing to enhance their community or chapter/national organization with the acquired knowledge gained by the completion of the Academy. Selection criteria: Selection will be based on scholarship committee/task force on a scale of 100 points, applicants will be scored on the following How to apply: Applicants must submit online application form. Should include: a 500-word essay: discuss applicants future social work aspirations and its impact on the Black community, or role of social workers in the Black community during these challenging times of social unrest, social injustices and inequalities; two letters of recommendation: one letter should come from a faculty, academic advisor, or field instructor; second letter should come from applicants community service coordinator or applicants chapter advisor/chapter president if applicants do not have community service experience; a transcript from applicants college or university.
