To support Marion County graduates who are pursuing postsecondary education. Qualifications: Applicants must be a US citizen; HS senior or graduate; attended Marion Co school all four years; if HS: upper 25th percentile of HS class; if college: 3.0+ college GPA; not a relative of Vera O. McDanel; high school seniors, college students, and non-traditional students; must planning to attend a trade school, two-year or four-year college or university, graduate school, law school, or medical school; scholarship requirements focus on students in the Marion (Ohio) geographic area. Selection criteria: Selection will be based on donor’s; special considerations: pursuing career as American history teacher or professor; or pursuing career in engineering.
