To provide support to students who are in need. Qualifications: Applicants must be students who are studying agronomy, horticulture, botany, or a closely-related discipline at an accredited four-year college or university; the student must have completed two full years of college and be entering the junior or senior year of studies; all applicants must have completed at least one full year of college; must studying agribusiness, agricultural sciences, or horticulture; or ecology or environmental science with a focus on botany; students majoring in biochemistry, cellular biology, genetics, or molecular biology will be considered if their academic interests are plant-related; consideration will also be given to graduate students enrolled in an approved graduate program and engaged in plant-related research; the student must be either a permanent resident of Texas attending an accredited community-college, four-year college or university, or a student attending an accredited community-college, four-year college or university in Texas. Selection criteria: Selection will be based on committee criteria. How to apply: Applicants must be submit a completed application form and academic performance-enclose their complete transcript; cumulative grade point average; letters of recommendation-include two letters of recommendation, one from one of their professors, and the other from a person of their choice; personal statement-written statement of no more than two pages (500 words or less). Focus: Horticulture.
