To honor the men and women who serve our country by providing educational opportunities for their descendants. Qualifications: Applicants must be a direct descendant of a Korean War veteran or a direct descendant of a soldier who served in a foreign war and provide appropriate documentation; minimum GPA of 3.0; enrolled as a full-time student; demonstrate financial need; must be a resident of the State of Hawai'i; maintain a minimum 2.0 GPA. Selection criteria: Selection will be based on committee members; Preferences (in order of priority): direct descendants of Korean War veterans who died in combat; direct descendants of veterans who served during the Korean War; direct descendants of veterans who either died or served in a foreign war; demonstrate community service; recipients who were awarded in the immediate prior year if such recipient continues to meet the eligibility requirements and is in good academic standing. How to apply: Applicants must be submit online application form; most recent unofficial grade transcript; any short essays and/or other documents that may be required or recommended for specific scholarships; current cumulative grade point average (gpa); transcripts should be as recent as possible and should not be a duplicate from a prior year hcf application; letters of recommendation (lor) are not typically required to submit Applicants application.
