To provide scholarship grants for public employees (and their dependents) that have been killed or injured in the line of duty, or to citizens who have performed heroic acts. Qualifications: Applicants must be a resident of Hawaii who meets one of the following Selection criteria: Preference will be given to recipients who were awarded in the immediate prior year, provided they continue to meet the eligibility requirements and maintain good academic standing. The award also recognizes individuals who have performed a heroic act that provided for the protection and safety of others; such an act must be documented and verified by appropriate authorities. How to apply: Applicants must submit online application form; should include FAFSA submission summary; most recent unofficial grade transcript; any short essays and/or other documents that may be required; additional documents: letters of recommendation, SAT/ACT scores for high school seniors, verification of organization affiliations, native Hawaiian ancestry verification.
