To help students from a particular school or area, students pursuing a specific field of study, students with significant financial need and many other qualifications. Qualifications: Applicants must be children of employees of the Tennessee Highway Patrol who serve in uniform, undercover or plainclothes; applicants may be rising sophomores, juniors or seniors in college who demonstrate a commitment to a career in criminal justice through their course of study; recipients must attend college on a full-time basis in the fall of the year in which the scholarships are awarded and continue in college that entire academic year, barring illness or emergency. Selection criteria: Evaluating the applicants, the committee will consider the applicants' academic records, test scores, extracurricular activities, work experience, community involvement, and recommendations about leadership and character; the selection process shall balance merit and financial need and depending on the scholarship, there may be an emphasis on financial need.
