To honor Buck’s memory and unique contributions to the San Diego Chapter of AFCEA. Qualifications: Applicants must be graduating high school student who will attend an accredited four-year college or university in the United States. Candidates must be residents of San Diego County, have a minimum grade point average of 3.8, and be majoring in science, technology, math, or engineering curriculums; students must have strong academics, a record of leadership, extracurricular activities, and volunteer service activities both in their school and in their community; • United States Citizen or permanent legal resident. Selection criteria: Selection will be based on records of leadership and volunteering activities within the high school, church, community which are the focuses of the program. How to apply: Applicants must submit online; a copy of the applicant's college or university acceptance letter; a copy of the financial aid award letter from the selected college or university; a copy of SAT or ACT scores from a single testing date (if available, as scores will be considered but are not required); a copy of current transcripts, including any college courses currently being taken (unofficial transcripts such as copies or printouts of online versions are acceptable); the applicant’s most recent grade transcript; a letter of recommendation from a teacher, counselor, sports coach, research advisor, or school administrator who knows the applicant’s leadership ability and community service; an essay (maximum 500 words) addressing supporting documents.
